Scrum teams frequently encounter impediments that slow their progress. Some of these impediments are caused by the structures, policies, politics, and culture of the greater organization. The role of an effective leader in the VUCA world has changed dramatically. We expect leaders to move from telling to motivating and inspiring others, aligning ‘teams of teams'’ goals to the overall strategic direction without micromanaging while giving each individual a sense of belonging to a shared set of values and purpose. Using an integral approach, we will explore multiple perspectives on an organization's people, practices, structures, cultures, and worldviews. This enables us to understand better where they are by applying Ken Wilber’s Spiral Dynamics theory. Participants will then be led through a series of exercises individually and in small groups to become more aware of our values and how to identify them in the actions of others. We will end by coalescing our learnings into tools we, project and product managers, can use to reduce scaling friction through value-based decision-making.
